Dropzone Commander Battle Report

Over the last few weeks we have been binge gaming and painting. One of the latest games of choice is Dropzone Commander. Over the weekend we played an exciting three player game. at 1500 points we had my Resistance versus Shaltari versus PHR.

The mission was a hodgepodge. We had the Monorail and used Monorail rules from both official scenarios. We also used 4 Focal Points and 5 pieces of Intel scattered in the board.

The Battlefield
At 1500 points I was using almost all of my Resistance and I also included Allied UCM in the form of Marine Force recon and Pathfinder Archangels.

The PHR player brought a newly painted Hades, fresh from the factory floor, to battle. My son and his wily Shaltari would bring two brand new Caiman heavy tanks to the fray.

This won't be a blow by blow battle report, rather show some highlights and pretty models.

Meanwhile the monorail rumbles down the tracks.

Resistance moves in to knock down the monorail

PHR make a move towards the monorail

While the Hades secures the PHR baseline and starts destroying buildings.

Turn 1 set the theme for the game. The Resistance started shooting at a nearby monorail support, intending to drop the monorail close to their deployment zone. The PHR sent a contingent of troops and walkers to contest this move. The Shaltari content itself with snipping in the corner.

PHR move to contest the Monorail. Infantry try to grab some intel.

The Hades removes the last building between the Shaltari and the PHR

an Athena screams onto the board, damaging a Resistance Dropship but not destroying it

The Resistance takes out the Monorail support and drop the train.

Marine Force Recon puts the Immortals name to the test...

damaged Lifthawk providing air cover to the Marines.

Sadly pictures end here. The battle was fun with the Resistance moving onto the Monorail wreckage to claim that focal point. The Resistance tanks survived combined shooting of both PHR and Shaltari to claim Monorail objective and win the game.

Highlights:

- PHR moved a squad of Immortals into a building with intel and later that turn Marine Force Recon dropped into the building to lock them in CQB.
Next turn the PHR roll for intel before the battle but find a objective. CQB sees the Immortals annihilated for the lost of 1 marine, who take the objective and exfil into their waiting Falcon.

- Pathfinder Archangels did nothing. They tried to, unsuccessfully, shoot down the Athena three times, failing each attempt spectacularly. A single Resistance gun truck ultimately brought it down with a lucky shot. (Can't wait for some Hellhogs to replace these )

- I love the Alexander Heavy Tank. Such a cool looking model. In the game previous to this it one shotted a Shaltari Caiman Heavy Tank and in this game one shot a PHR Walker.

- The Hannibal MBT performed well. I know on the forums these guys are catching a lot of flak but they have been solid performers for me.  In this game they, slowly, drove to the main Focal Point and held it against the combined fire of both the PHR and Shaltari.

Conclusions:

I hope to have a more in depth battle report in the future. I also intend to explore the individual Dropzone Commander units in greater detail. Stay tuned for more content!
