Dropzone Commander: AAR lite

Dropzone Commander: AAR lite

I'm enjoying Hawk Wargames Dropzone Commander quite a bit as of late.
Over the weekend I was able to get together with a friend and play a game.

We played the monorail scenario from the new expansion.
Here's the table.

The Scenario is very thematic, with an objective on a speeding monorail, both sides try to get the objective. There are also 4 focal points which could be held for points as well.

I would be playing with my Resistance against my friend's beautiful PHR army.

A fight over the monorail.

One of the major turning points of the battle was the race to get our elite infantry into the monorail.
I missed a turn one attack run on his Siren's Dropship with my Archangel. Jacob was more successful with a turn two attack run on my Marine Force Recon, downing the transport in the middle of the street.

With elite Sirens in the Train I took the only other action I could, dumping my troops into the train Station. Jacob countered with a sacrificial platoon of his own and I was locked in CQB as the train sailed by. The Sirens would find the objective and extract it from the board without too much issue.

the Monorail pulls into the station while a raging firefight goes on inside

After a couple of turns I do win the firefight in the Train station, but by that time the game is already lost.

The battle was pretty violent, with me losing my Commander early and most of my ground forces followed suit. My Helicopters and Hellhog did manage to score a respectable tally of PHR walkers though, so while I lost I did take a lot of the enemy with me.

In the end I lost 8-2 but had a great time. Dropzone commander looks amazing on the table, especially with 2 fully painted armies.
