Red 2 & Red 3: X Wing repaints continued

I managed to touch up the paint jobs on a couple more X Wings This time we tackle Red 2,as flown by Wedge in Episode 4,  and Red 3 as flow by Biggs.

I've already created Luke's Red 5 and posted a quick tutorial here

First up is Wedge. He is a pretty popular character and his X Wing is pretty colorful.. One of the biggest differences between this X Wing and others is the use of yellow, implying that it used to belong to another squadron at some point in it's past.

Red 2 Filming Model

Touch up started the same way as with Red 5. I used the mixed base color to touch up the wash in places.

Red 2 - left side

I used GW Bubonic Brown for the Yellow/mustard markings

Right Side
I used a mix of GW Blood Red and Red Gore for the markings, going over all of the to brighten them up a bit.

Two Dash marks are added in red as well as some red stripes on the engine cowlings. Wedge's R2 unit is also Red so a few dots of Red paint complete the illusion.

Lastly I went back with my base coat mix and added some scratches to the red markings.

And that's about it... I now have a decent Red 2!

Next up was Red 3. Below is a picture of the filming model.

Red 3 Filming model
Same as Red 3 we start with a touch up of the base coat.

Just using various grays mixed with Bubonic brown in various quantities I added the different paneling.
While I tried to be generally accurate to the filming model at this scale it's more about the impression of the details and not the details themselves.

The Candy cane markings on the blasters were Vallejo Ice Blue and Turquoise.

It was a fun little project and now I have all three X Wings ready to make their Trench run!
