Welcome back faithful readers. Last time we left off we still had a lot to do to get the Andromeda out of Space dock.
Work continues apace on the lighting. I've finalized the lighting setup. I've decided to go with 6 LED lights in total. One to light the twin wave motion guns at the bow of the ship, one for the main engine and 1 in each of the four secondary engines.
Using scrap plasticard I've added a brace and mounting plate for the LED that will be lighting up the Wave Guns. Hopefully it will be bright enough.

(Testing the Lighting set up for the Wave Motion Guns... Nice! looks like it's getting ready to fire)

(Ignore the light leaks now, peices are just taped together to test the lighting)

Taking a break from the lighting for a while there is a lot of detail and prep work that still needs to be done. The Bridge superstructure is a little sparse out of the box so we will pretty it up a little.
Using some spare photo-etched parts from a 1/350 scale Aircraft carrier I add some detail to the rear of the Bridge base.
(At least some detail here... anything will help)

I wasn't too happy with the look of this side pod. I'm not even sure what it does on the ship and the detail on the actual piece is pretty soft. I didn't want to completely replace it but wanted to add at least a little detail so I sanded it down and removed the lower three panels and will glue in some mesh backing (again from a 1/350 scale photo-etch)
Okay, that's it for now boys and girls... catch ya next time!
It is very cool to see the process from pieces to something very cool looking. Looking forward to the next installment!
