I am sitting on 3 or 4 half written reviews and other entries that I just need the time to sit down and finally finish, however in the meantime I thought I'd share a little of what's been going on at All Miniatures Great and Small.
40K
My son and I both picked up 40k after a long absence. I've broken out my Imperial Guard and Ultramarines and started work again on my Tyranids.

Not much room left in the deployment zone. |
Above is a pic from a 4 player 1500 point each game. Two Imperial Guard forces versus the Dark Angels and Space Wolves. I think the Guard won with by 1 victory point.
Dropzone Commander
We are really having fun with this 10mm wargame from Hawk Wargames. My Son is collecting the Shaltari, who are kind of an Eldar, Protoss, Native American vibe. While I am collecting the UCM, the most human and conventional of the forces. We've managed to talk a few friends into getting it as well.
We've had some good times with this game and you can expect a lot more coverage in the future.
Star Wars: X Wing
Did I mention I love this game? So far this year we've seen the release of Imperial Aces and two HUGE Rebel ships in the form of the Rebel Transport and Blockade Runner. Both are stunning models and a fun addition to the game.
yeah, my Transport didn't survive this encounter |
Other Stuff
Lastly, my 6 year old daughter has shown more and more interest in Dad's little toys.
I'd been promising her a game so one Saturday afternoon we put a game together.
We used the terrain from the 40K Battle of Macragge set and the Lord of the Rings box set, I grabbed a bunch of Zombies from the Last Night on Earth boardgame and some Hasslefree Women Adventures (Laura Croft, Buffy, Seline, etc).
My daughter had to get to a tomb and get the treasure while fighting Zombies all the way.
She did it with with no problems. measuring and moving her own figures and rolling the dice and figuring out if she hit or not.
Next up she wants to paint her own figure.
Overall it's been a good few months of gaming... Stay tuned!
