British from Shifting Sands - Army Showcase

British in the Desert - an Army showcase.

My son, Jake,  and I recently participated in Shifting Sands 12, held at Vul-Con in Phoenix, AZ. The Tournament was a team based, 1000 points per player, Early and Mid War. Early War on Day 1, Mid War on Day 2.

You can read about our day 1 experiences here...  Shifting Sands Day 1 AAR

Since I don't play British and my son didn't have any Late War British that would translate into the desert we were basically starting from scratch. In essence we would have to build 4 separate 1000 point lists!
My Early War list was a Honey Stuart company, while Mid War I would field a Heavy Company. Jake would take an Infantry Tank Company both eras.

I make no claim about being the world's best painter, far from it, however I was pretty pleased with how these turned out. Below you will see a Gallery of Early and Mid War British from my son and I.

The combined Early War Army
My Early War Honey Stuart Company
The Two combat platoons I painted in a blue scheme while I left the HQ elements in standard sand. These plain tanks would serve double duty in my Mid War list.

Jake's Entire Early War Army

Jake's Matilda II tanks, these boys are beasts!
Jake's 18/25 Lb Arty. They would also serve in his Mid War List

Jake's Veteran Infantry - another platoon that would serve double duty Early and Mid

Mid War

While Jake's force transferred from Early War to Mid War without issues he did bump up the number of Matilda IIs in his Company to 8.

The Changes for me were more dramatic, Trading in almost all of my Stuarts for Grant tanks and trading in my beautiful Rolls for Universal Carriers

Entire Mid War Army... man that's a lot of tanks!
