FFG- X Wing - Corran Horn's E-Wing

Corran Horn's E Wing

In a previous post, here, I reviewed the new E Wing fighter and expressed my disappointment with the design, though not with FFG's implementation. In this post I wanted to share how I modded an E Wing to represent Corran Horn's ship.

Fan's of the original X Wing novels will know that Corran Horn was an "X Wing" pilot and was known to fly a green marked X Wing he brought with him from Corellia. I figured he would continue his trademark coloring even after transitioning to the E Wing.

As a reminder, here is the stock E Wing, straight from the package.

And here is my take on Corran's E Wing.

The modifications themselves were very simple.

I used an exact-o knife to pry off the offending laser cannon above the canopy.

I used some greenstuff to fill in the resulting hole and then just rolled a tiny ball of greenstuff to make the R2 unit.

I then glued the laser on the underside of the ship.

Painting I carefully painted out the red markings with grey and then masked and painted in the green markings.

The squadron stripes were hand painted on afterwards to give it more detail.

Overall I'm pleased with the mod and am thinking of picking up one more E Wing and give it a "Red 5" treatment, with more traditional X Wing markings.
